Ecotherapy

First off, I’m a city girl, Cleveland Ohio born and raised. My family’s’ annual excursion to ‘The Farm’ filled me with a love for the land. The Farm, was and still is our family farm. My Maternal Grandfather established a business, but it was a magical mythical journey place for me. As I matured, the illusions of that mythical place gave way to reality yet I continue to be inspired by that legacy space. I recognize that our modern society has moved too many of us away from our cultural roots and earth connections. My goal is to support those who have a need or an interest in getting and staying connected to the natural world.

I started gardening, with the help of my parents, in the backyard. I can still see my Dad digging up the yard and preparing my garden bed. Through the years I have grown flowers, herbs and vegetable gardens. I worked for a year on The Farm as my family engaged with a coop, growing eggplant, peppers, zucchini and yellow squash. I learned more about ‘stoop’ labor and I gained greater respect for farmers and farmworkers who pick and pack and ship your produce to markets. Of late, I have completed certificate work in Ecotherapy leading to my focus on Urban Ecotherapy.

Urban Ecotherapy is for me, learning how to recognize the natural world all around us and ways to increase and improve our symbiotic relationship with all that lives in our backyards, parks and neighboring rural countryside. The benefits of time spent in direct connection with soil, plants, nature sounds, etc., serve to reduce stress, improve health and support improved mental health. In alignment with the research, I love to create custom retreat experiences utilizing my skills in ecotherapy, psychology and pastoral counseling. These take place at local parks or through nature videos. Designed to address your needs these experiences re-connect your inner and outer world.
