Well, let me start by saying welcome, I’m grateful you stopped by for a minute.
You know when I have been asked about being a writer or a poet, I sort of snort and shake my head. You see, I still struggle with calling myself a writer even though I write everyday. I was the same way about teaching. When my minister, teacher, surrogate mother, Leola Poole, told me I was a teacher, I snorted. And then I went on to study and teach in church then public school and finally community college.
And all along I was writing. I wrote my weekly letters of inspiration to my student advisees, my Sunday morning lessons and my lecture notes. My weekly letters also came with poems and prose. Thanks to my soul sister and soul mate, Christina May, I have a published book of many of those poems. And this is how my story continues…
It’s been interesting to reflect on my life-long enthusiasm for science fiction. This passion led to a life full of discovery in all areas of life. Wanderlust has taken me on unforgettable journeys, from the sun-soaked beaches of Thailand to the vibrant landscapes of Honduras. Beyond traveling to physical locations, my profound interest in the human spirit has taken me down the inner path.
My inner path directed me to pastoral counseling studies guiding me to deeply appreciate the diversity of human cultures. My poetry reflects both insight and empathy as my heart attunes to the complexities of human experiences.
My life’s phases ebbed and flowed. I went from being a commissioned Air Force officer and military spouse to a high school basketball referee. In between, I picked and packed veggies on a small-farm co-op in Missouri. Cleveland, Ohio is where I was raised and I have two adult sons who call me mom.
