Greetings,
The picture is from a recent walk at Stephen’s Lake Park here in Columbia. I was delighted to walk up on these water flowers. I knew they were there only for a brief time and I drank in their beauty. Today’s entry is another oldie and I’m just going to type it and we’ll see what we feel afterwards, so here goes…
Created in the Image of…
It has often seemed odd, off balance, when the Creative Principle is called He. I think this is because the pattern of development of all species on this planet requires male and female energy. After the single cell organism, the more complex manifest life became the more diverse the energy necessary to create it became. It seems there is such an aversion, particularly in monotheistic religious practices to see, or conceptualize the Creator as Female or Male/Female, Female/Male. It seems to me that without much thought a man cannot reproduce a woman any more than a woman can reproduce a man. (I think cloning supports that). The Creator must possess the patterns inherent to the creations in order for them to be reproduced. Yet, what happens, especially in modern, monotheistic, especially patriarchal system when the Goddess is introduced? Anarchy! There is no God save God, and yes, we know woman is essential, blah, blah, blah, but only God (Men) are Holy. Does that make sense? But if we think and broaden our thoughts, how many of us, male and female, are faced with how we demean woman and the attributes of the Creative Principle that caused these to manifest? Instead of honor and places of worship and reverence, these attributes and the human beings that possess them are defiled, subjugated and dishonored. I imagine there are billions of humans that would simply revolt and die if faced with a God Head that was Feminine/Female/Woman. Why?
Well, I must have been really exposed to something that got me all riled up! As I continue to reflect on the fact that I wrote this 7 years ago is intriguing to me. I was working in a metaphysical store and surrounded by day with New Thought/New Age stuff. But as I continue to reflect I realize the Divine Feminine was calling me much earlier in my life. In the early 1980’s I began seeing her. I was surprised to find that even the most open minded of my teachers in my early Unity years didn’t have much insight for me about the Goddess, The Divinity of Women.
Well, much like you I continue to learn and grow and discern more of the Divine Feminine, the Holy Woman who follows her Spirit. It is still a rough road for many women and the men who support them but the attributes that belong to the Divine Feminine, the Holy Mother within and without is love. Then compassion. Let us each uncover more of the divinity within that supports our expressions of love and compassion for self and others.
Peace & Blessings,
Philana
